Mandatory Requirements for Teacher Education Students in Australia

All mandatory checks must be completed a semester BEFORE professional experience placements. These checks ensure you meet the legal and regulatory requirements for working in schools. In addition to the requirements of each state (see below), some schools may have additional requirements.

Before and during your studies at ACCS, you’ll need to complete the following. Email to: education@ccs.edu.au

Important note: Keep a copy of all certificates so that they may be used if required when
you apply for registration and teaching positions.

Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Hold a valid WWCC (or state/territory equivalent) before starting any professional experience placement.

Anaphylaxis & Child Protection Training
Complete both training modules and keep certificates current.

Literacy and Numeracy Test (LANTITE)

  • Pass the national test to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills.
  • At ACCS, you’ll sit this in your first semester to ensure that you have sufficient time to re-sit the test if needed.

Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA)

  • Assesses your teaching against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
  • Undertaken during your final placement and required for graduation.
